IF NOT THE BEST WAY IS TO CONTACT THE NEAREST VET
Lost pigeon?
From time to time, pigeons may find their way to a place near you, or stop by. If you find a lost pigeon, please follow the following steps:
- Racing pigeons:
a. if the lost bird is a racing (homing) pigeon (the ones that look like ‘typical’ pigeons), have a look at the band or ring on their leg.
b. the ring should have the owner’s phone number on there. Give them a call and arrange a pick up.
c. if there is no phone number, go to step 2! - Fancy pigeons:
a. if the bird doesn’t look like a racing pigeon, or doesn’t have a phone number on the ring check the Australian National Pigeon Association ring register (www.anpa.com.au/lost-pigeons) and follow those instructions. - If you have no luck with the above, or the pigeon has no identification ring, contact Pigeon Rescue Melbourne (www.petrescue.com.au/groups/11761/Pigeon-rescue-Melbourne-)
